NARC-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua appeared for Morara as lead counsel, flanked by a battery of more than 10 lawyers including Eugene Wamalwa, Ndegwa Njiru amongst other top learned counsels. .
The court ruling came hours after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) preferred charges against him including cyber harassment contrary to Section 27 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act.
According to the charge sheet presented to the court by the prosecution, Morara Kebaso was arrested for allegedly posting false information about David Langat, a famous Eldoret businessman.
Kebaso was arrested on monday evening and taken to DCI HQ, then later moved to Nairobi regional police and back to the DCI HQ, in a game that looked like ‘mchezo wa paka na panya’ betweeen citizens who vowed to follow the detectives anywhere they’d take the INJECT party leader.
While detailing Kebaso’s arrest, the activist’s lawyer faulted detectives for holding the activist incommunicado. The attorneys also claimed that his lawyers had been barred from accessing their client.
“They have restricted access and have strict instructions from the top not to allow any person to access Morara including lawyers, media personnel, and any other persons,” the lawyer told journalists.
‘’The question is what type of police do we have here? They have no respect for the constitution, they have no respect for the rule of the law,” Kebaso’s lawyer added.
