Embu Man Found Dead After Alleged Robbery Attempt Gone Wrong

Police in Kithiri, Embu County, are investigating the suspected suicide of a man who was found dead just hours after a failed robbery attempt in the area.

The lifeless body of Antony Mugendi was discovered hanging from the roof of his house on Thursday morning, a few hours after he and unidentified accomplices were caught attempting to steal macadamia nuts from a local farm.

Reports indicate that Mugendi and his accomplices managed to escape before an angry mob could capture them. He allegedly hid in his house to evade retaliation.

However, on Thursday morning, his neighbors discovered him dead, dangling from an electric cable.

“He is believed to have entered through the window to avoid suspicion. Residents later found him dead, with the window open. He may have feared retaliation and decided to end his life,” said Nembure Sub-Location Assistant Chief Joseph Njiru.

Officers from Nembure Police Station visited the scene and moved Mugendi’s body to Gakwegori Mortuary as investigations continue.
