How a Shopping Receipt Aided Detectives in Unveiling the Lavington Murder.

I am not certain how to describe this, I am just bumfuzzled how humanity lost its humane. What have we become? Are we really human? I am persuaded that even God must be ashamed of us.

A shopping receipt from a prominent supermarket aided in identifying a woman who was murdered, and her body was boiled before being disposed of at the Lang’ata cemetery. The victim, Deka Abdinoor Gorone, had left her California estate to meet her assailant, Hashim Dagane Muhumed, who was waiting in a short-stay room.

After checking in, she visited a nearby supermarket for shopping and made her payment using her mobile phone. She took the receipt and placed it in her pocket before exiting, as recorded by the CCTV cameras.

Police believe the bones discovered on October 31 at the entrance of Lang’ata cemetery belong to her. Detectives who examined the scene observed that some bones appeared freshly boiled, with parts of the flesh carefully removed. They suspect the killer used a chemical in this act. The motive remains unclear, according to investigators.

At the scene, police recovered a receipt issued to the woman at the supermarket. Her body, along with a few items, was wrapped in a black paper bag and left there.

The receipt later proved vital as it contained essential details that aided the police in identifying the woman. It included the supermarket’s name, the time of purchase, and the payment method, indicating payment via M-Pesa, along with the mobile number used and other pertinent details.

Police visited the supermarket in Nairobi’s central business district and successfully retrieved important information about the customer who made the transaction. They then traced the mobile phone number used for the payment at the supermarket, which was registered under the name Deka Abdinoor Gorone.

Earlier, a missing person’s report had been filed on October 24 at the California police station. The woman’s family identified her as Deka Abdinoor Gorone and confirmed that the woman in the CCTV footage was their missing relative.
