“I want the truth, if I lost I’ll go home, ” Raila says.

Raila Odinga, the Azimio presidential candidate on Sunday said he will concede and go home if Supreme Court rules he lost fairly. While attending a church service in Kibra, Raila asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to tell him the truth about the August 9, general elections.
“What I want as Raila Amolo Odinga is to be told the truth… And this is not just because of the election of 2022. It’s for posterity. We don’t want to go to an election and see the kind of charade that we are seeing today,” he said.

However, he added that there has to be some truth considering the commission is divided in the middle with one side allied the body’s chairman Wafula Chebukati and the other affiliated with vice chair Juliana Cherera.
“Mr. Chebukati on one side with two commissioners and then the other commissioners on this other side. It’s a shame. Shame to democracy. Shame to the world. These are things that we don’t want to see.”

The ODM leader urged the apex court to observe justice as it decides on the petition filed before it.
“Mimi Raila Odinga siogopi. Kama nilishindwa nitasema nimeshindwa. Na nitarudi nyumbani. Lakini ukweli iko wapi?” he asked.

This is loosely translated to, I Raila Odinga is not afraid. If I was defeated, I will say I was defeated and go home. But where is the truth?”
“Mimi nina hakika sijashindwa (I am sure I have not been defeated). Therefore I will stand firm. I will not be defeated.”
