‘I’m not interested’ – Raila rubbishes Gachagua’s claims on power-sharing.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has rubbished Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s claims that he is after power-sharing saying he’d “already done that”.

“Sisi hatutaki nusu mkate. Mkate gani? Sitaki kukua Naibu wa Rais ama Waziri mkuu, haya yote nishakua.”

Loosely translated as; “I do not want to share government. I have already served as the prime minister.”

The opposition chief was speaking during the burial of the late John Kiboko, a renowned Mau Mau veteran from Nyandarua county, where Gachagua was also in attendance.

Raila maintained that the ongoing peace process dialogue is for the greater purpose and asked the DP to allow the Kalonzo-Ichung’wa-led negotiations to engage constructively in a unified approach far from the side shows.

“Mazungumzo ni sawasawa, Acha watu wazungumze. Tuko na swala nyeti na tunataka litatuliwe. You, Ruto and I should not interfere.”

Gachagua had claimed Raila had not only demanded for power-sharing agreement with the ruling government but also sought three ambassadorial positions.

The DP noted that the ODM leader’s demands were however dismissed and was only offered a retirement package.
