“Is clout the new showbiz in Kenya?, “check out this trending celebrities.


Kenyan celebrities have mastered the art of pulling stunts just to create audience attention to promote an upcoming song, gain more followers on their social media platforms or advertise products and events.

 

The latest being from socialite Vera Sidika, who released a new song after duping Kenyans that she underwent surgery to remove her butt implants. This saw her receive praise and criticism on equal measure.

 

On the other hand, singer Natalie Florence better known as Noti flow has also been on the spotlight following her on and off relationship with her girlfriend King Alami. The actress has been separating and reconciling with Alami multiple times in less than a year due to various reasons.

 

Another case is of Stephen Adera, aka Stevo simple boy, who recently announced his relationship with one Jenny Wangui that led to a “proposal and private wedding.” After a few weeks, Wangui would come clean on their relationship, saying that it was just a PR stunt meant for showbiz.

 

We have also seen singer Willy Paul pulling a stunt with Jovial. His publicity stunts have become so common that Kenyans do not fall into the trap and can see through this played out trope.Thus, several celebrities have been called out by their fans for constantly pulling absurd stunts for clout.

 

However, this has not stopped them as they believe it is a good way to stay relevant in the competitive entertainment industry. In fact, comedian Eric Omondi has been on the forefront advising public figures to utilize clout, terming it as showbiz.
“Entertainment is like the ocean. It cannot be defined. It is wide and deep and takes every form. What most people refer to as CLOUT is actually entertainment in its purest form!!! I really laugh when I continually hear people calling me a clout chaser. Aren’t you entertained anyway?” Omondi posed.
