“It’s Unfortunate”: Azziad Nasenya Denies Claims of Inclusion in Kenya’s Paris Olympics Delegation.

TikToker Azziad Nasenya has responded to the claims that she is part of Kenya’s delegation to the Paris Olympics 2024.

This is after Kenyans accused Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts CS Ababu Namwamba of including his friends in the list instead of athletes.

Azziad’s name was dragged into the mix, and she issued a statement to clarify the matter and her relationship with the docket headed by Namwamba.

“I am not part of the Kenya delegation to the Paris Olympics 2024. It is unfortunate that someone would come up with false allegations on such a matter. My involvement with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports was centred around the Creatives Technical Committee of the Talanta Hela Council, headed by Daniel Ndambuki, AKA Churchill. I was selected and mandated to represent the younger population in the Creatives Technical Committee. However, the committee was disbanded in June 2023. I’ve not involved myself since,” Azziad wrote.

She also clarified that her foreign trips have never been sponsored by the government, as some people claimed.

“I would also like to make it clear that my travel to Dubai and other places have been financed by myself, clients, or family, and never, as numerously claimed, by the Government of Kenya. There were allegations that I travelled to Dubai using money meant to renovate a stadium. At the time, I was in Dubai recording content for the #VisitDubai campaign, a trip that was fully funded by the client. The receipts are on my socials-smart, so people can confirm instead of believing rumours,” she added.

Earlier, Namwamba was served with a demand letter seeking the publication of the names of delegates attending the Paris Olympics.

In a letter, Charleen Njuguna, Jolly Lanji, and Bevalyne Kwamboka directed Namwamba to supply the information within seven days. Njuguna, Lanji, and Kwamboka said they did not want a repeat of the Rio Olympics scandal and were concerned about the actual cost of Kenya’s delegation to the Paris Olympics.
