Kaende! Governor Mwangaza Triumphantly Returns to Office After Court Victory.

Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who has faced multiple impeachment attempts, boldly returned to her office on Thursday following a High Court ruling that temporarily halted her removal.

In a triumphant message on her official Facebook page, Mwangaza vowed to lead the county for the next decade. “Kabati kabati kaende kaende #MbeuyaNgai #KumiBilaBreak. So help me God,” she wrote.

This return comes just a day after the High Court, led by Justice Bahati Mwamuye, stopped her impeachment, which had been upheld by the Senate on Tuesday night. The court also restrained Senate Speaker Amason Kingi from declaring the Governor’s seat vacant.

“Merciful God,” the relieved governor posted on social media soon after the ruling was delivered.

Mwangaza has consistently taken to social media to celebrate her legal victories. Following the Senate’s decision to allow a plenary hearing for the charges against her, she expressed her joy on X, writing, “Hallelujah,” after learning she would present her defense before the full Senate.

Despite the High Court’s ruling, the Senate had upheld her impeachment on Wednesday after two previous unsuccessful attempts by the County Assembly. A total of 40 out of 69 Meru County Assembly members voted to impeach her, citing three charges on which she was found guilty.

Governor Mwangaza’s legal battles continue to draw national attention, with her latest victory reaffirming her resolve to maintain her position amid growing political pressure.
