The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a seven-day heavy rainfall warning across most of Kenya.
According to Monday’s forecast, heavy downpours are anticipated in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Rift Valley, Southeast lowlands, Coast, Northeast, and Northwest regions from April 2 to April 8.
The department urges Kenyans to prepare for potential flooding in these areas.
Simultaneously, high temperatures are expected in Turkana, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale counties.
Daytime temperatures will exceed 30°C over the next week, with night-time temperatures remaining high, surpassing 25°C, particularly along the Coast and in North-eastern Kenya, as per the forecast.
Most parts of Kenya are currently experiencing the onset of the long-rains season, which typically spans from mid-March to May.
