Kenyan Households to Gain More Disposable Income by End of 2025, Says Kindiki.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has expressed confidence that 2025 will mark a transformative year for Kenyan households, promising more disposable income as a result of Kenya Kwanza’s economic policies.

In a New Year’s message shared on X, formerly Twitter, on January 2, 2025, Kindiki highlighted the government’s progress in stabilizing the economy and its ambitious plans for accelerated growth.

“Deliberate interventions over the last two years have yielded steady macroeconomic recovery,” Kindiki stated, citing key achievements such as a stronger Kenyan shilling, declining inflation and interest rates, and reduced prices of essential commodities.

He emphasized that these gains lay the groundwork for further improvements, including targeted reforms in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and the blue economy.

According to Kindiki, the government’s 2025 agenda centers on microeconomic recovery, job creation, and boosting household incomes. Special economic zones, affordable housing projects, ICT hubs, and industrial parks are among the initiatives expected to stimulate growth and improve livelihoods.

“In 2025, the Government is accelerating key interventions for microeconomic recovery, job and wealth creation, as well as enhancement of household incomes,” he explained.

Kindiki also spotlighted the Universal Health Coverage Program, Taifa Care, and ongoing education reforms as pivotal policies to ease out-of-pocket expenses for health and education.

“By the end of the year, Kenya’s ambitious Universal Health Coverage Program—Taifa Care—and the ongoing education reforms will significantly reduce household expenses, leaving families with more disposable income,” Kindiki stated. “This is the year that the hard and difficult task of transforming our country will start yielding returns.”

Kindiki’s optimism was echoed by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who called 2025 a pivotal year for the Kenya Kwanza administration’s agenda.

“This is the year that Kenyans will realize the good and strong foundation Kenya Kwanza has put in place for the great trajectory of our beloved nation,” Mudavadi shared in a January 1 statement. He encouraged Kenyans to remain united and resilient as the administration works to deliver on its promises.

As the government rolls out its plans for 2025, the promise of increased disposable income offers a beacon of hope for many Kenyan households. Whether these ambitious targets will translate into tangible benefits remains to be seen, but optimism runs high for a transformative year.
