Public Service CS Moses Kuria has once again expressed displeasure with how the Mt Kenya region has become notorious for Governor impeachments since the onset of Devolution.
In a post on X, Kuria shared a poster with the words, “The only region that knows how to impeach the governor is Nairobi & greater Mt Kenya region.”
The poster goes on to list all governors that have been impeached before in Mt Kenya counties and Nairobi County. It also has a message, purportedly to Mt Kenya, requesting for a chance to also impeach their governors.
“In the spirit of inclusivity, kindly give us a chance to impeach our Governors msijipende sana.”
In October, Kuria sarcastically said the region should also allow other regions in the country to impeach their governors. He said that unless impeachments solely depend on a region’s climatic conditions, it is time they let others also do it.
He however, joked that this would be, in the spirit of “inclusivity and diversity”.
“In the last term, Kiambu County from Mt Kenya region made history by becoming the first county to successfully impeach a Governor. In this term Meru County In Mt Kenya region is determined to become the first County to successfully impeach the Governor,” Kuria said.
“Unless impeachment has something to do with the soils, altitude or climatic conditions, it is necessary for Mt Kenya region to give other regions an opportunity to impeach their Governors in the spirit of inclusivity, diversity and national cohesion. My two Cents,” the CS said.
Kuria’s remarks come as Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza is waiting to face the Senate plenary to know her fate following a second impeachment by Meru MCAs.
The Public Service CS has publicly backed Mwangaza, insisting that the impeachment is a battle for Mt Kenya kingship.
“I stand with Governor Kawira Mwangaza. This is an evil scheme by someone who thinks that the only way to be a Mt Kenya Kingpin is to bring down other leaders not to solve the problems of our people who are getting desperate by the day. History will vindicate me,” he said.
