Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has taken a direct swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, urging him to abandon his relentless critiques of the government and redirect his energy towards constructive endeavors. Speaking at a rally in Kakamega County on Monday, Mudavadi emphasized the need for Gachagua to move on and prioritize national development.
Mudavadi called on Kenyans to support the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development agenda and steer clear of divisive politics propagated by individuals who, according to him, have little chance of reclaiming public office.
“If someone was mourning, that period is over,” Mudavadi remarked. “Kenya must move forward; we cannot be held back by endless grievances. Our focus should be on progress, which is precisely where President Ruto is leading us.”
He further highlighted the legal implications of impeachment, referencing former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Kiambu’s Ferdinand Waititu, both of whom were barred from holding public office after their ousters. “The law is clear: once impeached, you cannot hold public office, not even as a village elder,” Mudavadi stated.
Mudavadi, who also serves as the Foreign Affairs CS, urged citizens to familiarize themselves with the law to avoid being misled by politicians with no legal standing to hold office. “We must analyze the law and use it as our guiding compass. Let’s not waste time on leaders who can’t legally serve,” he added.
Since his impeachment in October 2024, Gachagua has launched a series of scathing attacks against President Ruto and his administration, rallying his supporters from the Mt. Kenya region to remain defiant. His rhetoric appears aimed at securing a political comeback in the 2027 General Election.
Mudavadi’s message underscores a call for unity and progress, urging both leaders and citizens to look beyond past grievances and work towards the nation’s future.
