Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has challenged National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka to start bipartisan talks immediately instead of engaging in unnecessary exchange of letters.
Speaking during a funds drive in Homa Bay,Murkomen castigated the two for the back-and-forth, saying they are derailing the talks.
“I don’t know why Kimani Ichung’wah and Kalonzo Musyoka are writing letters to each other. What is it for, why don’t they call each other and meet?” Murkomen posed.
The CS said he does not wish to see the country head to another wave of protest when there are chances of listening to each other through the bi-partisan talks.
The talks between the government and opposition is expected to be mediated by Nigerian Head of State Olesegun Obasanjo, where Ichung’wah will be leading Kenya Kwanza team as Kolanzo heads the Azimio side.
However, the talks are yet to start officially. Last week, Kalonzo Musyoka wrote a letter to Ichung’wah, inviting his team for talks at Serena Hotel.
In his response, Ichung’wah rejected the proposed venue, terming it as an expensive one, which will waste taxpayer’s money.
Instead, Ichungw’ah said the meeting should be held in a public place, and further rejected to discuss issues on high cost of living.
