On the radar: Mwangaza to know her fate as senators vote.

Embattled Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza will on Wednesday know whether the Senate will uphold or dismiss the impeachment charges against her.

 

On Wednesday, the governor will take the stand to defend herself against allegations raised by the county assembly.Mwangaza will present her witnesses who shall be cross-examined by the county assembly.

 

Later, the House shall allow the parties to give final remarks before they break for a few minutes to allow members to deliberate on the accusations.

 

A motion shall then be moved to debate the arguments by the parties before the senators take a vote by delegation (elected members only).Atleast 24 elected senators will be required to vote in favour of the motion to uphold the governor’s ouster from office.

 

Obado’s graft case resumes

The hearing of the Sh2 billion corruption case against former Migori governor Okoth Obado resumes today.

 

Obado was charged alongside his sons and daughters and proxies with conspiracy to defraud Migori county government and the prosecutors had described it as an intricate web of money laundering through the use of proxies.

 

They were first charged in 2018 and the state lined up 59 witnesses to testify.

 

Roads outstanding projects portfolio reduced by Sh250 billion

The government said it has reduced the Ministry of Roads and Transport’s outstanding projects portfolio from Sh900 billion to Sh650 billion to ensure completion of ongoing works.

 

Roads and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen revealed that the said move also seeks to address outstanding bills.

 

Wednesday’s power interruption to affect two counties

Kenya Power has announced that two counties will experience power outages on Wednesday due to maintenance.The interruptions in Nairobi and Kwale counties will start from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
