Protesters light bonfires in Kisumu streets as demos start.

Protesters in Kisumu took to the streets on Wednesday to light bonfires as early as 7am.Most streets within Lakeside City remained empty ahead of the anti-government protests.


The protesters blocked roads as they adhered to Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s call for demonstrations as businesses remained closed with minimal activities witnessed.


Transport, on the other hand, was paralysed with no vehicles seen moving around as people kept away from the city with only a few tuk tuk from Nyalenda seen on the road before the protests began.


At the Kisumu bus terminus, a born fire was lit along the streets with a section of locals already on standby beside the roads.At the Kisumu Boys roundabout, the roads were blocked using stones, and born fire lit.


This is as police were seen on standby next to their lorry and others were seen patrolling the streets.
