RAILA COME CLOSE TO WINNING THE AUC CHAIRMAN AS RIVAL DROPS OFF THE RACE

Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission (AUC) received a significant boost as Mauritius withdrew its candidate and pledged support for him. This decision was made by Mauritius’ new Prime Minister, Navin Ramgoolam, during a phone conversation with President William Ruto.

This change signifies a shift in Mauritius’ foreign policy under Ramgoolam, marking a departure from the stance of former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth. Raila continues to gain continental support, reinforcing his position as a strong contender for the AUC chairmanship.

The announcement, made on Tuesday, November 26, by Pauline Njoroge, a prominent member of Raila’s campaign team, confirmed that Mauritius would now back Raila Odinga’s bid for the AUC chairmanship. Ramgoolam’s rise to power in a closely contested election has introduced new priorities to Mauritius’ foreign policy, emphasizing alignment with Raila’s candidacy.

This is after Mauritius withdrew its candidate and threw its support behind the former premier. The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 26, by Pauline Njoroge, a key member of Raila’s campaign team.

Do you think Raila will win the seat?
