Kenyan gospel singer Linet Munyali, popularly known as Size 8, and her husband DJ Mo (Samuel Muraya), have opened up about their seven-month separation and the powerful lessons they’ve learned along the way. In a heart-to-heart interview with Betty Kyallo, the couple revisited the difficult period in their marriage and shared how they managed to find their way back to each other.
During the interview, Size 8 admitted that things had gotten so difficult that she felt compelled to publicly announce the end of their 11-year union. She described reaching a point where hope had completely vanished.
“I thought I had reached my end. I had lost all manner of hope of us ever becoming something,” she confessed.
She explained how the challenges blinded her to the good in DJ Mo, making it hard to see anything beyond his faults. That narrow focus, she says, played a major role in their temporary separation.
Size 8 reflected on how easy it is to fall into the trap of only seeing what’s wrong in a partner. She admitted that during their rocky period, she zoomed in on DJ Mo’s flaws and overlooked the positive qualities that had brought them together in the first place.
“I looked at his faults with a magnifying glass and completely refused to see his positives.”
That season apart helped her recognize the importance of perspective and objectivity in a relationship. She now makes a conscious effort to balance how she views her partner—not ignoring faults, but also not letting them overshadow the good.
The time away gave her clarity. She realized she had been taking DJ Mo for granted in ways she hadn’t noticed. The small things—the kindness, support, laughter—had faded into the background until they were no longer there.
“There are things I took for granted, thinking they’d always be there. Now, I’m intentional about appreciating him.”
It’s a reminder that even long-term relationships need regular nurturing and gratitude.
Eventually, DJ Mo made a grand gesture—a proposal that swept Size 8 off her feet again and marked a fresh start. It wasn’t just romantic; it was symbolic of a renewed commitment, rooted in faith and healing.
“This is the doing of the Lord. No matter the obstacles, He gave us the grace to overcome,” said Size 8.
She closed with the powerful words from 1 Corinthians 13:8: “Love never fails.”
