Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged Kenyans to remain hopeful, reassuring them that the country is on a path of stability. He emphasized the importance of continued faith in God and collaboration between the government and the people.
He stated, “The same God who has helped us stabilize key economic indicators will continue to guide us through the remaining journey.” Kindiki outlined that the government’s focus for the next three years is to put money into the pockets of citizens, noting that inflation, exchange rates, and food and fuel prices have all stabilized.
“The goal is to introduce programs and projects that will enhance household incomes, create jobs, and ensure that citizens are financially better off,” he added.
Kindiki spoke at an interdenominational Sunday Worship and Thanksgiving Service at Moi Gardens in Lodwar, Turkana County.
He highlighted the government’s efforts in creating job opportunities both locally and internationally. In Kenya, programs such as affordable housing and Climate Worx have already employed 20,000 young people. Kindiki also revealed plans to expand the Climate Worx program to all 47 counties in Kenya, including Turkana, starting in the new year.
On security, Kindiki praised the progress made in the North Rift Valley, particularly in Turkana and neighboring counties. The government’s Operation Maliza Uhalifu has significantly reduced cattle rustling and banditry, opening up the region for economic transformation.
He acknowledged the efforts of political, religious, and community leaders in fostering peace and stability in the area, stressing that the security of the Northern Rift Valley and the rest of the country remains a top priority.
Kindiki also pointed out that the country’s economy is recovering, especially after the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. “With an improved exchange rate, reduced cost of living, lower interest rates, and stabilized inflation, we are on the right track,” he said.
He urged Kenyans to continue supporting transformative government programs designed to improve household incomes and create job opportunities both locally and through labor mobility abroad.
