“Stop persecuting my late brother, he deserves a resting place in heaven” DP Rigathi Gachagua

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday held a presser, where most Kenyans had expected that he would tender his resignation speech as he embattle impeachment motion before the parliament.

The embattled DP gave a lengthy speech, particularly about his accusation of properties that he owns most of which are in question

Rigathi is facing impeachment motion, with most of the properties and companies he owns being listed as part of what he acquired as proceeds of corruption, an allegation toping the list of on his impeachment motion.

The DP was on Sunday forced to apologise to the President-and the entire public for mistakes that he know not.

Rigathi Gachagua emotionally defended his late brother, James Nderitu Gachagua, against allegations that his wealth was obtained through corrupt means. He expressed sorrow, asking for his late brother’s forgiveness, stating that politics had exposed their private family matters.

Gachagua, who wondered how cruel people could be to a point of persecuting a sea person for political interests, criticised the accusations as a cruel attack on a man who worked hard for his family, lamenting that his brother’s legacy is being unfairly scrutinised. In a voice filled with emotion and empathy, the Deputy President in a moving speech disclosed property by property of what his late brother owned before he succumbed to death in 2017. “I take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness from my late brother James Nderitu Gachagua that today, as your younger brother defends himself, he’ll defile your privacy by distributing your will that you wrote in privacy. My dear brother rest in peace and forgive me for having joined politics because were it not for politics, you would not suffer this shame,” Gachagua said, his voice emotional voice filling the cloud.

He further expressed consternation over the allegations, terming them malicious and ill intended to a man who dedicated to working throughout his entire life so that his family could enjoy the fruits of his labour. “Your properties that you worked for many years to benefit your wives and children are now a subject of discussion and are now alleged to be proceeds of corruption. How unfair, how cruel can you be to a dead man?” The DP posed.
