‘The Buck Stops with You!’ Kalonzo Slams Ruto Over ‘State-Sponsored’ Abductions

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a stern call to President William Ruto, urging him to address the alarming rise in abductions across the country. In a statement titled “The Buck Stops with You, William Samoei Ruto,” Musyoka described these enforced disappearances as a grave violation of human rights.

“It is disheartening that the Ruto regime has normalized abducting youth merely for expressing opinions, drawing pictures, or sharing artwork critical of the government,” Musyoka stated. “This terrible practice, executed by hooded brutes, mirrors the chilling tactics of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi militias.”

Musyoka alleged that these abductions are state-sponsored efforts to suppress dissent. He pointed out the inaction of authorities despite clear CCTV footage of masked individuals carrying out these acts. “None of these balaclava-wearing gangsters have been apprehended, leading to one conclusion: they receive direct instructions from State House, Nairobi,” he claimed.

Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni also criticized the government’s heavy-handed response to dissent, referencing political cartoons to highlight the absurdity of targeting artists and youth. “What is wrong if I draw President Ruto and label him a bad leader? Even he once drew me with a cooking pot on my head. That is reality. But our youth should not be abducted for expressing their views,” Kioni remarked.

The opposition coalition lamented the continued loss of lives during anti-government protests, particularly those opposing the now-dropped Finance Act of 2024. “On June 25th, the youth impeached Parliament. Many were killed, yet no police officer has been charged,” Musyoka noted, emphasizing the absence of accountability.

As families mourn loved ones lost to state violence, the opposition is demanding that President Ruto condemn these abductions and take immediate action to safeguard human rights. “This government must prioritize justice and freedom over fear and repression. The world is watching,” Musyoka concluded.
