‘Hawezi Tisha Wakenya’: Sifuna Criticizes Joho’s Threats to Online Critics.

Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has criticized Mining and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho for his recent threats to online critics of the government.

During an interview, Sifuna expressed shock over Joho’s comments, calling them disrespectful to Kenyan citizens. He emphasized the need for leaders to engage the public with humility and professionalism.

“I was shocked to hear Minister Joho speak like that. He seems to forget that he is no longer a politician but a Cabinet Secretary. Leaders must address Kenyans with respect,” Sifuna stated.

Leadership or Politics?

Sifuna accused some ODM leaders appointed to Cabinet by President Ruto of continuing to behave like politicians. He clarified that these individuals no longer represent ODM’s policies and cannot speak on behalf of the party.

“The ODM party has no agreement with UDA or Kenya Kwanza. These Cabinet Secretaries are part of the Kenya Kwanza administration and were appointed by President Ruto, not ODM,” Sifuna said.

He noted that their remarks often contradict ODM’s stance, further distancing the party from their actions.

Joho’s Controversial Comments

Joho sparked backlash during a rally in Taita Taveta, where he criticized social media users for their unpatriotic comments about the government.

“We cannot let this country be led by people sitting on social media, showing no patriotism. If you attack us, we will come for you. Bring it on,” Joho declared.

Political Implications

The tension highlights the growing divide between ODM and its former leaders now serving in the Kenya Kwanza government. Sifuna’s remarks underline ODM’s efforts to maintain its independence and distance itself from Kenya Kwanza policies.

As criticism of Joho mounts, the incident raises questions about the balance between political rhetoric and responsible leadership.
