Power Shift: UDA-ANC Merger Reveals Game-Changing Leadership Lineup

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has set the record straight regarding the party’s leadership following its recent merger with the Amani National Congress (ANC). Secretary General Hassan Omar confirmed that President William Ruto remains at the helm as the party leader of the newly formed United Democratic Alliance Party.

In the reshuffled leadership structure, Kithure Kindiki has been appointed as the 1st Deputy Party Leader, while Issa Timamy assumes the role of 2nd Deputy Party Leader, dispelling earlier reports that Kindiki had lost his position.

Cecily Mbarire, the Governor of Embu, has been named the National Chairperson, with Omar continuing his role as Secretary General. Kelvin Laumani will serve as Vice Chairperson, and Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba steps in as Deputy Secretary General. The financial and organizational aspects will be managed by Japheth Nyakundi, the National Treasurer, and Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya, the National Organising Secretary.

Addressing the media, Omar expressed concerns about the surge in misinformation aimed at disrupting the party’s unity and development agenda. “There is a well-orchestrated scheme of misinformation intended to detract well-meaning citizens,” he stated, emphasizing the party’s commitment to countering these narratives.

During the merger announcement at State House, Mbarire reassured Kenyans of the party’s inclusive vision. “We are no longer the party of shareholding. This new formation represents a united Kenya, where everyone is welcome,” she declared, hinting at a rebranding initiative ahead of the 2027 General Election. The merger will incorporate ANC’s identity symbols and integrate its secretariat members into the new party structure.

As UDA-ANC prepares for the future, the leadership’s focus remains on fostering unity and inclusivity across the nation, setting the stage for a dynamic political landscape in the years to come.
