From Poverty to Prosperity: How Izaak Mutugi is Building Embu’s Future Through Real Estate.
Meet Mr. Izaak Mutugi, the Director of Zaklee Real Estate Company, a man whose humble beginnings from Gatunduri village shaped his extraordinary journey. Growing up in poverty, Izaak faced significant challenges, but his intelligence and determination became his greatest assets. He excelled academically from a young age, and after college, he left home with a singular mission: to combat poverty and transform lives.
“Growing up in Gatunduri taught me that poverty is not a curse, but a challenge. I knew I had to change my story and help others do the same,” Izaak reflects.
Izaak’s journey took him to Somalia, where he worked as a paramedic before returning to his roots in Embu. Four years ago, he ventured into real estate, founding Zaklee Company, a move that would mark the beginning of a transformative era. In addition to his real estate success, Izaak is a prominent farmer, specializing in dairy farming with over 35 cows and cultivating red peppers on more than 20 acres of land.
Under his visionary leadership, Zaklee Real Estate has flourished. The company started with just one acre and has since delivered over 150 acres of land to clients in three years, establishing itself as Embu’s leading real estate firm. Each phase of development—Phase 1 through Phase 4—has been completely sold out, with Phase 5 now at 90% SOLD near Havard School in Gatondo. The company’s reputation for timely delivery has built unwavering trust among its clients.
“Zaklee is more than a company; it’s a bridge to better opportunities for Embu residents. Our goal is to provide affordable housing solutions, so everyone has the chance to own a home,” says Izaak, as he prepares to launch an affordable housing project in Murramuri, featuring over 30 bungalows with a flexible payment plan, “Lipa Pole Pole.”
Despite his vast success, if you meet Izaak Mutugi in the streets of Embu, you would never guess that he runs a company worth hundreds of millions. Known for his humility, he lives a simple life despite his financial achievements. His belief in the potential of young people and the power of social media led him to appoint Embu Broadcasting Network (EBN) admin Charles Kimenjo as the official brand ambassador of Zaklee Real Estate since January 2024.
Through his resilience and vision, Izaak Mutugi has not only driven the growth of his company but also transformed the landscape and lives of the Embu community.
