Impeaching Gachagua is Initiating Your Ouster,” Malala Warns Ruto.

Embattled United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala has urged President William Ruto to thwart the alleged plans to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Speaking at a church service in Kiambu County on Sunday, Malala warned that such a move could undermine Ruto’s chances of securing a second term in the next general election.

Malala claimed that legislators allied with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, who are reportedly behind the ouster motion, could shift their focus to preventing Ruto from retaining the presidency.

“I may not be in a position to advise, but you should be cautious about using those pushing to oust your deputy, who has stood by you. You might think you’re impeaching Rigathi Gachagua, but you’re actually starting the process of your own removal,” Malala stated.

He named Junet Mohamed and Peter Kaluma as the key figures allegedly orchestrating the motion, warning that their ultimate aim could be to destabilize Ruto’s leadership.

“The same people behind this motion will not stop at removing your deputy. I assure you, they will come for you next,” he added.

Malala urged the President to mend fences with Gachagua, emphasizing the Deputy President’s unwavering loyalty despite being targeted, even to the point of arrest, in support of Ruto.

“Please, bring order to your house. Don’t punish Rigathi Gachagua. This man was humiliated in front of his children and arrested because of you, William Ruto. We appeal to you to show humanity,” he said.

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba echoed Malala’s sentiments, alleging that plans are underway to present the impeachment motion in Parliament next week.

“We despise betrayal. The impeachment is being planned, and those being coerced into signing it are the same ones who previously insulted and humiliated us. Mr. President, please remember,” Wamuchomba urged.

“Kiambu County gave you 606,000 votes. Respect those votes and let Rigathi Gachagua do his job,” she added.

These statements come amidst rumors of a deteriorating relationship between President Ruto and DP Gachagua, with the latter reportedly feeling sidelined. Gachagua recently expressed frustrations in a candid interview with Citizen TV, claiming internal power struggles within UDA and the broader Kenya Kwanza alliance have emboldened leaders to openly insult him without repercussions.

He called on President Ruto to shield him from these attacks, reminding him of the promises made during the 2022 campaign period.
