The young mother gave birth to her baby just before beginning the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam. The student from Laliat Secondary School gave birth to a healthy baby girl at Kericho County Referral Hospital.
Several hours later, the 18-year-old mother was prepared to take her final secondary school national exam. Being a new mother, she took her first two exams, English and Chemistry, at the hospital’s maternity unit.
An 18-year-old student from Laliat Secondary School in Kericho county gave birth to a healthy baby girl and underwent a caesarean section at Kericho County Referral Hospital, before sitting for her first two exams hours later.
The young girl was quickly taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital for a life-threatening condition, but it was discovered that her lovely baby girl was eager to make her entrance on the same day as the KCSE exams.
She arrived with a condition known as fetal distress, leading to her being brought to our operating room for a caesarean section. According to the supervisor at Kericho County Referral Hospital, a baby girl weighing 2.8kg was born.
“She came with a condition termed as fetal distress, which made her be taken to our theatre and undergo the caesarean section. She gave birth to a baby girl weighing 2.8kg,” Kericho County Referral Hospital supervisor said.
