The 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results will be released on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
A statement from the Ministry of Education said the event will be officiated by CS Ezekiel Machogu at the Kenya National Examinations Council’s new Mitihani House in South “C” .
The 2023 cohort was the last to sit the KCPE exams as the ministry works on phasing out the 8-4-4 curriculum. In 2023, over 1.4 million candidates sat the examination.
Machogu while speaking on Tuesday in Nairobi said the exam that was conducted between October 30 and November 1 was concluded well.
“There were no cases of cheating. No cases of any kind of malpractice. We only had six cases which were only attempts to cheat. Out of 1,415,315 candidates, the only cases that we had were six,” he said.
During the release of last year’s KCPE results, Machogu said there were 252 cases of exam malpractice. He said the candidates were caught engaging in the vice across nine examination centres and the candidates were not awarded any marks in the subjects they engaged in malpractices, the CS said then.
“Overall, there were 252 candidates in nine examination centres who were found to have engaged in malpractices. These candidates have scored zero in subjects where they engaged in malpractice. Nonetheless, the affected students’ overall marks will be computed less the mark awarded in the affected subject,” he said while releasing the results on December 21, 2022.
