Anthony Mwenda was apprehended in the Wempa area of Murang’a South on Tuesday, November 12.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations indicated that Anthony is connected to the killing of his spouse, Millicent Mwendwa. The DCI reported that Anthony reportedly assaulted his wife of two years on July 11, 2024, causing deadly wounds to her head and legs.
DCI revealed that Anthony Mwenda was captured in Murang’a South after months of dodging the police’s efforts regarding the brutal murder of his 24-year-old spouse, Millicent Mwendwa.
“After months of evading police dragnet, murder suspect Anthony Mwenda, who gruesomely murdered his 24-year-old wife (Millicent Mwendwa) at Mugirirwa area of Chuka in Meru South, has been arrested. Mwenda was arrested in a sting operation at Wempa location within Murang’a South,” DCI disclosed
According the DCI, Anthony attacked his wife of two years on July 11 2024, and gruesomely caused her fatal injuries leading to demise.
“In the unfortunate homicide reported by the chief – Mugwe location on July 11, 2024, the suspect turned against his wife of two years following a family dispute, inflicting fatal cuts on her head and legs,” the detectives added
Detectives disclosed that neighbours who were attracted by the cry for help found Millicent bleeding profusely, and beside her, there was a panga soaked in blood. “Neighbours whose attention was drawn to the ruction arrived at Mwenda’s house to find a profusely bleeding Millicent, and beside her, a Maasai rungu, a black whip and a panga all soaked in blood. More blood on the wall and floor evidenced the young lady’s struggle to escape with her life,” they added.
