Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a bold vow to escalate his campaign against President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government, declaring that the fight to “liberate Kenya” is far from over.
Speaking at the PK Salasya Classic Cup on Wednesday, Kalonzo, accompanied by former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and other leaders, delivered a fiery speech that reaffirmed his commitment to opposing the current administration.
“From Mumias, I want to tell the people of Kenya that we will not back down. This loyal people’s opposition will walk the journey with progressive Kenyans to liberate Kenya from Kasongo,” Kalonzo stated, referencing a nickname he often uses for the president.
“We cannot sell our nation or our conscience. God bless you. God bless Kenya,” he added in a post shared on X.
Scathing Criticism of the Government
Kalonzo has consistently criticized Ruto’s administration, accusing it of eroding democracy and engaging in oppressive practices. He linked the government to a troubling spate of abductions, alleging that dissenting youth have been targeted for expressing their opinions through art and social media.
“The Ruto regime embarked with shocking familiarity on the practice of abducting our youth just because they expressed their opinion, drew pictures, and created artwork widely shared on social media that Mr. Ruto did not like,” he remarked in an earlier statement.
Comparing the alleged abductions to the tactics of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi militias, Kalonzo demanded immediate action:
“We the People’s Loyal Opposition demand that all 82 youth who have been abducted in the last three months be released and returned to their families immediately. We also demand that all the 29 missing youth whose whereabouts are unaccounted for be located forthwith.”
A Call to Action
Kalonzo’s unwavering stance signals his determination to hold the government accountable and galvanize support for his cause. With his campaign gaining traction, the political landscape is set for heightened tension in the coming months.
As Kalonzo’s opposition movement continues to gather momentum, Kenyans are left to ponder: Will these demands lead to meaningful change, or will the battle against Kasongo’s government remain an uphill struggle?
