Renowned Congolese preacher and philanthropist, Prophet Charles Motondo, has called on Kenyans to cease mocking President William Ruto, warning that such behavior could invite divine consequences.
During his recent visit to Kenya, the charismatic leader voiced his concern over the use of derogatory nicknames like “Kasongo,” which he argues are disrespectful not only to the president but also to God’s anointment.
“Calling the president funny names undermines God’s authority,” Motondo stated. “The Bible warns against cursing leaders appointed by God. Criticizing him is akin to criticizing God.”
Motondo urged Kenyans to reflect on their actions, emphasizing that corruption is not confined to the government but extends to churches and society at large. He called for mutual respect and accountability across all sectors, while also encouraging President Ruto to address the frustrations of citizens with empathy and decisive action.
“No president will be liked by everyone. Leaders come and go. We’ve had many presidents before, and now we have President Ruto. But weren’t you the same people who criticized the previous president? Every leader faces challenges and opposition,” he remarked.
The prophet reminded Kenyans that criticism is an inevitable part of leadership, reflecting on how past presidents also faced opposition during their terms. He prayed for President Ruto, urging him to understand that citizens’ grievances stem from frustration, not hatred, and to strive to resolve their issues.
“I pray that God helps the president understand that when people cry, it’s not because they hate him, but because they are frustrated. He must do his best to solve their problems, as God chose him to lead them,” Motondo concluded.
This statement from the bishop coincided with the news that three previously missing individuals—Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, and Rony Kiplangat—were reunited with their families on Monday. The National Police Service has assured the public that thorough investigations into these cases are underway and has appealed for cooperation in gathering relevant information.
Prophet Motondo, celebrated for his prophetic accuracy and philanthropic work, has established churches worldwide and provided aid to widows, orphans, and disadvantaged communities. He also serves as a presidential advisor to leaders in Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
As the President of the Congolese community in Zimbabwe, overseeing over 10,000 Congolese migrants, Motondo has advised prominent leaders, including the late Zambian President Rupiah Banda and former President Kenneth Kaunda. He continues to advise Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi.
Motondo asserts that his mission in Kenya is divinely ordained, aiming to minister to both the government and the church while offering hope to the less fortunate.
