Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed critics, emphasizing that President William Ruto is not interested in political supremacy or popularity battles.
Speaking at his official residence in Karen during a consultative meeting with Isiolo County leaders, Kindiki made it clear that the Kenya Kwanza administration is focused on delivering results—not seeking applause.
“Those inviting us to popularity contests are wasting their energy. President Ruto is not in the business of seeking claps, and as his principal assistant, I fully support him. Our priority is to fulfill our promises—affordable housing, agricultural transformation, road construction, and job creation. Popularity will come along the way, but for now, let those who seek it continue,” he said.
Kindiki distinguished between politicians and true leaders, stressing that Ruto has chosen to lead rather than chase fleeting public approval.
“A leader makes bold, sometimes painful, decisions for the long-term good of the people. A politician, on the other hand, is obsessed with claps and cheers. President Ruto is determined to make transformative decisions, even if they cost him popularity,” he stated.
He further noted that true leadership is measured by impact, not applause.
“If securing health insurance for 30 million Kenyans through SHA means losing support from a few quarters, so be it. In the end, transforming lives is the real achievement,” Kindiki concluded.
