In a show of solidarity, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua joined Governor Cecily Mbarire at Moi Stadium, Embu, for a special fundraiser aimed at reconstructing the dormitory of Jomo Kenyatta Children’s Home, which was recently destroyed by a fire. The home, which houses vulnerable children, has been struggling to get back on its feet following the devastating incident.
DP Gachagua made a generous donation of KSh 500,000 toward the reconstruction efforts, emphasizing the need for swift action to restore the children’s living conditions. He commended the local leadership and community for their quick mobilization to support the cause, stating that no child should have to endure hardship due to circumstances beyond their control.
Governor Mbarire expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Deputy President, noting that his contribution marked a crucial step toward rebuilding the dormitory and giving the children a safe place to stay. She called on other leaders and well-wishers to join the initiative and help the children return to a sense of normalcy.
The event saw the participation of several key figures, including MP Gitonga Mukunji, who also rallied behind the cause. He praised the leadership for organizing the event and urged the community to continue their support for the home.
With the funds raised during the event, the construction of the new dormitory is expected to begin soon, bringing hope to the children who lost their home. The fundraiser stands as a testament to the power of community efforts and compassionate leadership in times of crisis.
