Authorities in Juja, Kiambu county, confiscated 480 litres of industrial ethanol along with boxes of various second-generation alcohol being produced and kept within a three-bedroom house in Theta village. The alcoholic beverages were confiscated in the residence where they were being produced, packaged, and allegedly sold to local bars nearby.
Kiambu County police commander Michael Muchiri stated that law enforcement also discovered a roll of Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stickers that are thought to have been utilized by the producer to dodge taxes and deceive buyers. During the operation, law enforcement succeeded in apprehending eight individuals—two females and six males—who are being held pending legal proceedings in court.
Residents who talked to reporters following the operation described the goings-on within the peaceful residence as unusual to them. They claimed that the producer might have been moving the illegal beverages at night since they rarely observe any activity around the house during the daytime.
The police chief praised residents for providing information that triggered the sudden operation, noting that their useful tips could protect the nation from deceitful individuals intent on ruining the lives of Kenyans.
