In a statement on Sunday, December 15, 2024, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei stated that following EPRA’s reduction of fuel prices, operators of passenger service vehicles (PSVs) should also lower fares correspondingly to reflect decreased fuel costs during this festive season.
Furthermore, the outspoken senator proposed that legal action be initiated against those PSV operators who do not adhere to the fare price reduction orders.
“With the reduction of fuel prices in the country, the matatus, buses, and passenger service vehicles (PSVs) should equally reduce their fare prices in equal measure to reflect lower fuel prices. Failure to which, the police should crack down on the non-compliant PSVs in the country,” Cherargei said via his official X account.
On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Cherargei, via his X account, said that the lowering of fuel prices is the best Christmas gift for Kenyans from President William Ruto.
Noting that the reduction leads to a lower cost of living.
“Rudderless and clueless critics cannot share the impact of lowering fuel leads to a low cost of living. The reduction of fuel in the country is the best Christmas gift for this festive season. The strategies of HE Ruto in creating a prosperous nation for all is starting to bear fruits,” he said.
