Sultana Star Winnie Bwire Ndubi Loses Battle with Cancer After Two-Year Fight.

The Kenyan entertainment industry is in mourning following the loss of one of its beloved stars, Winnie Bwire Ndubi, who played the role of Dida in the popular TV show Sultana. Bwire succumbed to cancer complications while undergoing treatment in Turkey.

In a heartfelt statement, her family confirmed her passing on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support, prayers, and generosity they received from fans and well-wishers.

Bwire, who had been battling metastatic breast cancer for the past two years, sought financial assistance amounting to Ksh.7 million for specialized treatment abroad. In December 2023, she made a public appeal for help, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of life and the sudden shift from moments of joy to facing life-threatening challenges.

During an interview with Citizen TV’s Lulu Hassan, Bwire opened up about her journey with cancer, revealing how she initially dismissed early symptoms like swelling and fatigue, mistaking them for work-related stress. She candidly shared her fears about losing her role as ‘Dida’ due to misconceptions about the grueling effects of chemotherapy.

Her last public message, shared on August 14 via social media, was a plea filled with hope rather than despair. “If you can support me, I have nothing to give in return, but you will save my life. I didn’t want this video to be emotional; I wanted it to be filled with hope,” she said.

Winnie Bwire Ndubi’s passing is a significant loss to the Kenyan TV industry, and her courage in the face of adversity will remain an inspiration to many. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, talent, and the importance of early cancer detection.
