Thika Tragedy: 23-Year-Old Woman Raped and Killed, Family Seeks Justice.

The brutal killing of 23-year-old Seth Nyakio Njeri marks another tragic instance of violence against women in Kenya.

Seth was murdered on Monday, and her body was found in a rented house in Biafra, Thika, Kiambu County.

Her devastated mother recounts how the Zetech University graduate left their Kamakis home on Saturday in high spirits. They spoke until Sunday, but after that, her calls and messages went unanswered, raising alarm.

On Monday morning, the family received a disturbing call from a friend, informing them that Seth had been killed. Police were alerted and soon discovered her naked, lifeless body.

“I saw visible injuries on her neck; it was horrible to witness,” her mother, Lucy Njeri, shared through tears.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Seth was strangled. Authorities believe the assailant sexually assaulted her before committing the gruesome act.

Police are focusing on a male friend, suspecting he may have killed Seth out of jealousy after their relationship ended. It’s thought he discovered her whereabouts, lured her in, and took her life.

However, Seth’s family disputes this theory, pointing fingers at the female friend she was visiting, suggesting she might hold crucial information about what happened.

Detectives have since recorded statements from the friend, as the investigation deepens.

This harrowing incident adds to the mounting cases of gender-based violence in Kenya, with Seth’s family now joining the chorus of those demanding justice for their loved ones. The need to tackle the escalating violence against women has never been more pressing.
