Kenya’s Thirdway Alliance Leader Criticizes Ruto’s Approach to Job Creation Abroad.

Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has criticized President William Ruto’s initiative of seeking jobs for Kenyans abroad, terming it as misleading.

Aukot stated that Ruto’s focus on promoting the climate agenda overseas would hinder Kenya’s industrialization efforts, emphasizing the need for domestic job creation akin to successful models in Asian nations like China.

He emphasized that Kenya’s economic development should prioritize establishing opportunities for its youth rather than relying on seeking menial jobs abroad. Aukot highlighted the perilousness of continuous borrowing from the IMF, foreseeing potential generational repercussions of a stagnant economy.

His comments followed President Ruto’s announcement of plans to send thousands of Kenyans to work abroad weekly, aiming to enhance self-sustainability and contribute to the country’s progress.

Ruto defended his international engagements, stressing their intent to secure job opportunities for Kenyans. He cited discussions with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Germany, and France, aiming to materialize substantial job prospects for Kenyan citizens.

The disparity in approach between Aukot and Ruto reflects a broader debate on the best strategy for Kenya’s economic growth, focusing on internal industrialization versus seeking employment opportunities overseas.
