Jacob Ireri, fondly known as Mbao, originates from a modest village near Kigumo in Embu County. His childhood ardor for football bestowed upon him the epithet “Mbao,” a name he cherishes as a beacon of motivation and empowerment.

 

At the helm of the Deaf Empowerment Society of Kenya, based in Embu County, Jacob assumes the role of CEO with fervor. Through this non-profit organization, he tirelessly champions the cause of marginalized individuals nationwide, particularly those grappling with poverty and limited access to healthcare services.

 

Despite contending with deafness, Jacob adeptly communicates through sign language, vehemently opposing poverty and healthcare inequities. He stands as a committed spouse, parent, and an unwavering advocate for societal progress.

 

Expertise and Experience:
With close to 15 years of service, Jacob emerges as a seasoned leader in public service, community development, and disability rights. His collaborations with esteemed international bodies such as UN agencies, USAID, and UKAID span projects encompassing inclusive education and healthcare access.

 

Education:
Jacob’s scholarly pursuits culminated in a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Washington DC, USA, augmenting his aptitude for effecting meaningful change.

 

Achievements:
Jacob’s indelible imprint extends across Kenya. He has spearheaded initiatives to provide clean water to water-stressed communities, empowered thousands of farmers with contemporary techniques, and fostered entrepreneurship among marginalized demographics, ushering many out of impoverishment.

Through healthcare endeavors and educational scholarships, Jacob has bridged vital services to the underprivileged, ensuring no one is forsaken.
